Get paid for smarter energy use. Enroll your eligible smart thermostat in the Smart Thermostat Program and receive an $85 rebate from Con Edison once enrollment is complete. Additionally, if you participate in 50% or more event hours over the course of the initial three years, you can earn a retention incentive of $25 per year.
By participating, you’re helping reduce strain on the energy grid and supporting a safer, more reliable power supply for your community—all while keeping your comfort in mind.

How it Works
- After enrolling you’ll receive a confirmation email and your rebate within 6–8 weeks.
- During peak demand (11 a.m - 11 p.m on weekdays), we’ll make small, temporary adjustments to your AC to help reduce strain on the grid.
- Adjustment events happen from May through September.
- You have full control of your thermostat with the option to adjust settings anytime.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must:
- Have an eligible Wi-Fi enabled Thermostat
- Have Central Air Conditioning equipment
- Not be enrolled in Smart Usage Rewards.

We Collect and Use Information for Program Purposes
Consistent with our Privacy Policy, we collect and use information from programs in which you voluntarily participate. Your participation in the program gives Con Edison permission to use your information for program purposes, including to offer, enable, manage your participation in, provide support for, and improve the program.
We will share your information with third-party service providers in connection with program purposes. A third-party service provider will validate that you should be awarded the $85 per enrolled thermostat program rebate that you may be eligible to receive, and the $25 per thermostat incentive that you can be awarded for participating in fifty percent of event hours starting in your third season of participation in the program. Your information may be retained by the third-party service provider for up to four years to validate your status to be awarded the $25 per thermostat annual incentive.
Your information shared for program purposes consists of your name, email address, service address, Con Edison account number, thermostat serial number, activation date, account status, runtime data, temperature and humidity sensor data, set-points, device usage and technical data, and details related to your program eligibility, enrollment and participation in the program. We store and safeguard your information consistent with our Privacy Policy, and you can contact Con Edison at any time to ask that your information be removed from our storage systems. Your participation in the program remains entirely voluntary. Your information will be retained only to the extent necessary to fulfill program objectives.
** Limit 12 $85 rebates per household for enrollment. After enrolling, you’ll receive a confirmation email and an $85 rebate check from us within six to eight weeks.
