Time-of-Use Rates
Timing is everything. Learn how shifting your energy use to off-peak times could help you save on your bill and help the environment.
About
Residential customers, as well as small and large businesses, can pay less than the standard rate of electricity during certain times of the year with our Time-of-Use rate.
We buy the energy you use in competitive markets and pass that cost on to you, without making a profit. Supply costs can vary based on the weather, demand, and market prices. In summer, for example, your electric bill may go up both because you are using more electricity to run your air conditioner and because the increase in demand from everyone wanting to stay cool causes the market price of electric supply to rise.
Residential Customer Rate*
Pay less than the standard rate any time of day from October through May.
During the summer, from June through September, you may save energy and money by:
- Shifting some of your energy use to off-peak hours (midnight to 8 a.m.)
- Avoiding using large devices and appliances during peak times, as well as the super-peak period (Monday through Friday, 2 to 6 p.m.).

Summer Super-Peak Pricing
Summer Super-Peak pricing is in effect from June through September on weekdays between 2 and 6 p.m. Super-peak prices are significantly higher than supply prices during the rest of the day. Maximize savings by avoiding or limiting use of large appliances and equipment during the Summer Super-Peak period.
If you purchase your electric supply from an energy service company, Summer Super-Peak pricing does not apply to you. Estimate your supply and delivery charges with our market-supply charge calculator.
