Con Edison Employee From Williston Park, N.Y. Wins Energy Company’s Highest Honor

Gail Dorrian Embodies Exceptional Skill and Conduct At Work and in the Community

A Con Edison employee from Williston Park, N.Y. has won the company’s highest honor for her contributions to the safe operation of the electric system, her integrity and her professionalism.

Gail Dorrian, a senior district operator at the company’s Energy Control Center, is a winner of the Living Our Values Award, a prestigious honor for high-achieving employees who demonstrate stellar character on and off the job.

LOV winners exemplify the company's commitment to its priorities: safety, operational excellence, and providing an exceptional customer experience.

“I work every day with smart, talented people who are dedicated to public safety and reliable service,” Dorrian said. “That makes it special and humbling to be honored for my work in this area.”

Dorrian joined Con Edison in 1991 after graduating from Maritime College with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

“Gail’s communications expertise is the backbone of the safe operation of the complex electric delivery system,” said Walter Alvarado, Con Edison’s vice president of System & Transmission Operations. “She and her team are responsible for the systems that carry signals to operate sophisticated equipment that serves our customers.”

Alvarado said Dorrian “brings enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity and focus to every task. She earns the respect of colleagues and external stakeholders with her enthusiasm and open communication, whether for operations, problem solving, or training.”

Alvarado cited the team approach Dorrian brought to a situation that posed a threat to a portion of the signal relay system. She coordinated the repair plan among various stakeholders, communicated feedback, and shared praise for Verizon technicians with their management.

Outside of Con Edison, Dorrian is the mother of three daughters, an active parishioner at the Church of St. Aidan in Williston Park, a member of Moms On The Run, a club for runners, and is one of the coordinators at the Energy Control Center for the U.S. Marine’s Toys for Tots annual drive.
