Con Edison Veteran Earns Award For Always Putting Customers First

Nancy DePasquale of The Bronx Wins The Company’s Loftiest Recognition

A Bronx resident who has spent her 33-year career at Con Edison finding technologies and methods to improve customer service has earned the company’s most prestigious award.

Nancy DePasquale, a section manager in Con Edison’s Electric Operations Customer Advocacy group, is a recipient of the company’s 2020 Living Our Values Award. The company bestows LOV awards to high-achieving employees who show great character on and off the job.

“It’s humbling to earn recognition for advocating for customers from a company that places such a great emphasis on serving the public,” DePasquale said. “Our dedicated employees put all their knowledge, imagination and effort into providing safe, reliable energy service for New York City and Westchester County.”

“Nancy has a unique ability to think creatively and envision ways we can make our customer service even better and then bring colleagues together to successfully implement improvements,” said Lisa Primeggia, Con Edison’s vice president for Manhattan Electric Operations, and DePasquale’s direct supervisor. “Her work ethic, vision and ability to work with teams has earned her respect throughout our company.”

The company traditionally honors its LOV award winners with a formal springtime dinner and ceremony attended by their loved ones, friends and the company’s top executives. But the company held off on publicly announcing the 2020 winners because the Covid-19 health emergency made a dinner impossible last year.

The company honored the 2020 and 2021 winners during a virtual ceremony last week.

DePasquale’s dedication to the company’s customers shines through in many of the projects she has managed. In 2011, she took a new job within Electric Operations to revamp the customer experience. Her team developed new processes and technologies help better understand customer needs and take action to improve service.

Many of her initiatives began in Electric Operations, but groups throughout the company and its affiliate, Orange and Rockland Utilities, have adopted them.

DePasquale also helped develop the company’s Safety Leadership System, which provides a 360 view of employee work habits and other factors that can help employees stay safe. This application has a provisional patent and won a nationwide award.

DePasquale grew up in the Pelham Gardens area of the Bronx. She is married to her husband John and has one son. She has a bachelor’s degree in organizational management and a master’s in organizational leadership, both from Mercy College.

She shows the same dedication outside of work. She has volunteered with her parish’s Midnight Run program, which provides food and clothing to the homeless. As president of the parish council, she led programs to raise money for parish and community programs. She has also taught religious education and been a member of the parish’s Catholic Youth Organization sports program.

At Con Edison, DePasquale has participated in holiday toy drives. She has coordinated numerous retirement parties and holiday events at work and makes sure to add a charitable component; she solicits donations for gift baskets to raffle off and sends the proceeds to organizations that help the needy.
