Con Edison Names Jamie McShane Director of Media Relations

Con Edison announced today that Jamie McShane has been named Director of Media Relations for the company, succeeding Michael Clendenin, who is retiring on June 1 after serving as director for 20 years.

McShane, who currently serves as Senior Vice President for the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), will start his new role at Con Edison effective May 1.  Prior to his tenure at REBNY, McShane served as Director of Communications for the New York City Council and was an Emmy award winning producer at several news outlets including NY 1 News, WNBC, and CNN.

“We are fortunate to welcome Jamie McShane to our communications team,” said Frances A. Resheske, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs. “Jamie’s expertise working with residential and business customers, and his deep understanding of the current media landscape, will help Con Edison help New Yorkers move forward during this difficult time in our region.”

She added: “Mike Clendenin has been the calm and straightforward voice of Con Edison for 20 years. Whether outlining the company’s clean energy programs or helping customers prepare for storms, Mike’s ability to explain often complex issues has been invaluable for our industry, our company, and our customers. We’re grateful for all the sound judgement, good advice and successful outreach Mike has provided us.”

Clendenin has been with Con Edison since June of 2000, after serving as Communications Director of the New York City Council under then-Speaker Peter F. Vallone.  Prior to that, he worked in public relations for Connelly & McLaughlin and at WEEI-CBS radio in Boston, MA.

McShane is a lifelong resident of Sunnyside, Queens where he resides with his wife and children.
