Con Edison Asks Customers in Some Bronx Neighborhoods to Conserve Energy

Con Edison is asking customers in the southeast section of the Bronx to conserve energy while crews repair equipment problems.

Con Edison has also reduced voltage by 8 percent in those areas as a precaution to protect equipment and maintain service as repairs are made.

The affected area includes 81,000 customers and is bounded by Pelham Parkway on the north, Shurz Avenue south, the Bronx River on the west, and Eastchester Bay on the east.

The area includes these neighborhoods: Bronx River, Bruckner, Castle Hill, City Island, Clasons Point, Co-Op City, Country Club, Eastchester Bay, Edgewater Park, Harding Park, Middletown, Parkchester, and Pelham Bay. Also, Schuylerville, Soundview, Spencer Estates, Throggs Neck, Unionport, Westchester Square and West Farms.

Con Edison has asked customers in the area not to use energy-intensive appliances such as washers, dryers, microwaves and, if not needed for health or medical reasons, air conditioners, until the equipment problems are resolved.
