A Special Three Kings Celebration in Puerto Rico

Con Edison/Orange and Rockland Utilities Workers Collect Funds & Distribute Toys to Children of Storm-Ravaged Island

As their colleagues back home in the Northeast worked to keep gas and electric service flowing in the bitter cold New York metropolitan area, Con Edison and Orange Rockland Utilities workers involved in the Hurricane Maria power restoration efforts in Puerto Rico chipped in over $2,300 to purchase and distribute hundreds of toys today - Three Kings Day - to children in the San Juan neighborhoods where they’ve been stationed.

About 150 company employees packed and distributed bicycles, Frisbees, coloring books, dolls and baseball gloves to children in the areas where they’ve been turning lights back on for nearly two months.

“Our crews have been out restoring electric power in neighborhoods since November. They’ve talked with people who live there and found out how much suffering they went through,” said Stephanie Rolon, a Con Edison worker on duty in Puerto Rico who helped organize the toy drive.

Below are YouTube links to video shot this morning in San Juan, showing company crews packing and handing out gifts to children for Three Kings Day.
