Select Pricing Plan
In the past, the only way to save was to cut back on your overall energy use—something we know can be difficult. Now, we’re giving you greater control of your bill.
How Your Plan is Different
The delivery portion of your bill will now be based on how efficiently you use the grid.
Your new delivery cost will be based on when you choose to use electricity and how much electricity your devices use at the same time. The fewer devices you use at once, the less energy you’ll need to power them.
The difference between our standard delivery rate and the Select Pricing Plan is like the difference between a car’s speedometer and odometer. The speedometer indicates a car’s speed at a specific moment in time, similar to how your delivery will now be measured. The odometer indicates the number of miles a car travels over time, similar to how your delivery is measured on the standard rate. *
You’ve Got Two Ways to Save
Stagger the use of your large electric devices instead of using them all at once to keep delivery low.
Shift your energy use to off-peak hours to see even greater savings.
Peak: Noon to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday
Off-peak: All other hours
By staggering the use of large devices, you can save energy and money, especially during peak hours. Waiting until off-peak hours and staggering the use of large devices saves the most money.
Select Pricing Plan Delivery Rates
$19.23 per kW
$14.79 per kW
$5.67 per kW
A basic-service charge of $27.00, plus applicable taxes and surcharges, also applies. All pricing information for the Select Pricing Plan can be found in the Con Edison Electric Tariff under Service Classification No. 1, Rate IV.
Save With Your Heat Pump
If you have a heat pump, stick to a single temperature setting. The machine will operate more efficiently, which can help you lower energy costs.
Can I participate?
Yes, as long as you have a smart meter and working communications equipment installed at your home.
Once you’re enrolled in the Select Pricing Plan, you can track your progress by logging in to MyAccount and reviewing our bill-comparison tool. The tool provides a month-to-month and annual comparison of your bills on the plan versus what you would have paid on your current rate.
The annual comparison is helpful because, while you may not see savings every month that you’re enrolled in the Select Pricing Plan, the rate could still be a good fit overall. If you give the new rate a try, you can always return to your current rate if you aren’t satisfied.
Once you start to receive bills on the Select Pricing Plan, you can log into My Account to track your progress.
