The Gateway Park Substation in Canarsie, Brooklyn, is part of our $810 million investment in the Brooklyn Clean Energy Hub. The project will support the area’s growing energy needs from economic growth and development, as well as increasing demand from electric vehicle charging and electric heating.
Providing clean, reliable energy is at the core of our mission to serve the millions of New Yorkers who depend on us. As part of that mission, the Gateway Park Substation will strengthen the network’s resiliency and expand transmission capacity to support our clean energy future.
Live Near the Project? Here’s What You Can Expect
Construction will last from June 2026 through May 2028.
During this time, you might notice:
- Construction noise from jackhammering, digging, and other work
- Temporary relocation of bike and bus lanes, as well as traffic detours
- Temporary loss of parking spots
