Smart Usage Rewards (Demand Response) FAQ

  • We’ll let you know in advance via email or telephone—whichever you said you preferred when you registered.

  • Start by turning off unnecessary lighting, appliances, and equipment, raising the temperature of central air-conditioning systems, or using on-site generation that complies with state, city, and county regulations.

  • Some of our programs assess a financial penalty or reduced payments if you cannot reduce your electricity usage to the amount you enrolled. There are also smart usage rewards programs that do not have financial penalties. Give us a call at 1-877-870-6118 if you need help choosing a program.

  • It depends on which program you’re enrolled in. Some programs are called during system-critical situations, while other programs are designed to reduce the demand on the electric system on the hottest summer days.   • You can earn smart usage rewards for cutting back your energy use when we ask, at the times of highest demand to our energy grid. When you use less energy, it helps lower our demand for electricity during peak periods, like the hottest summer days. This helps us keep our system reliable for you and your neighbors.
