It depends on which program you’re enrolled in. Some programs are called during system-critical situations, while other programs are designed to reduce the demand on the electric system on the hottest summer days. The actual number of events will vary based on the program, weather, and system conditions. See a list of events called in past years.
You can earn smart usage rewards for cutting back your energy use when we ask, at the times of highest demand to our energy grid. When you use less energy, it helps lower our demand for electricity during peak periods, like the hottest summer days. This helps us keep our system reliable for you and your neighbors.
