Orange and Rockland Utilities crews worked through the night last night to restore service to approximately 7,000 of the 16,000 customers whose power was knocked out by a series of severe thunderstorms, featuring damaging lightning and heavy downpours, that roared through northern Orange County late last night and into this morning.

Trees downed by the destructive storms disabled O&R electric transmission lines that feed four substations that provide service to customers in Deer Park, Westtown, Port Jervis and Cuddebackville. O&R crews are working now to repair the tree damage to the transmission lines and return service to the impacted customers.

As of 7:20 a.m. today there are 8,906 customers out of service from the storm. Here are the largest outages by community remaining from last night’s storm:
