The monthly customer charge is $20.00 under the Residential Time-of Use Rate.

In addition to delivery, you will also be charged for electricity supply, which fluctuates based on market prices. For historical supply pricing, use our Market Supply Calculator. You can also purchase supply from an energy service company.

If you are an EV owner on the Standard Residential Rate, you can also earn incentives for charging during times of the day when demand for electricity is lower through the SmartCharge New York program. Learn more.

If you charge your electric vehicle at your residence, the cost of charging will be based on the rate you currently pay for electric service.

Time-of-Use Rates

There are two ways to save as an electric vehicle owner under our Time-of-Use rates.

Option 1) Residential Time-of-Use Rate with One-Year Price Guarantee

You can switch your whole home to the Time-of-Use rate for one year with no risk-free. After you’ve been billed on the Time-of-Use rate for 12 months, we’ll compare what you paid under the Time-of-Use Rate with what you would have paid under the Standard Residential Rate. If you paid more, you’ll receive the difference as a credit on your next bill.

Note: After you switch to the Time-of-Use Rate, you must stay enrolled for one year unless you get your energy from an energy service company. If you switch back to the Standard Residential Rate, you cannot rejoin the Time-of-Use Rate for 18 months. The monthly customer charge is $20.00 under the Residential Time-of Use Rate.

Option 2: Second Meter for Electric Vehicles Only

You can install a separate residential meter solely to charge your electric vehicle, even if you live in an apartment complex. You’ll need to hire a licensed electrician to do the necessary wiring, and to install a new meter pan and panel. Additionally, you would not be eligible for the price guarantee.

Please note: The monthly customer charge for a second meter is an additional $20.

Important: If you enroll your whole house in this rate, or add an EV-only meter, you will not be eligible to receive incentives in the SmartCharge New York program. Learn more

Summer Super-Peak Pricing

We buy the energy you use in competitive markets and pass that cost on to you, without making a profit. Supply costs can vary based on the weather, demand, and market prices. In the summer, for example, your electric bill may go up both because you are using more electricity to run your air conditioner and because the increase in demand from everyone wanting to stay cool causes the market price of electric supply to rise.

Summer Super-Peak pricing is in effect from June through September on weekdays between 2 and 6 p.m. Super-Peak charges are significantly higher than supply charges during the rest of the day. Save by avoiding or limiting use of large appliances and equipment during super-peak periods.

If you purchase your electric supply from an energy service company, Summer Super-Peak pricing does not apply to you.
