Partner Spotlight
A church in Queens that offers 24/7 community services faced rising energy bills due to extreme weather. With a three-year Signature Community Investment commitment from Con Edison, New York Disaster Interfaith Services (NYDIS) is one of seven community organizations collaborating around climate justice for community resilience.
NYDIS has partnered with Green City Force (GCF) to train youth corps members to deliver climate-ready audits and lead climate resilience roundtables for community stakeholders. In 2025, 30 GCF members received climate training and are carrying out audits at houses of worship to identify ways to cut energy costs and boost extreme weather preparedness. This citywide program helps faith-based spaces stay open and safe during emergencies.
This initiative aligns with our climate justice goal of making energy more affordable and enhancing community resilience in state-designated disadvantaged communities.
