In the past, the only way to save was to cut back on your overall energy use—something we know can be difficult. Now with the Smart Energy Plan, we’re giving you greater control of your bill.
How the Smart Energy Plan is Different
Your supply and delivery costs will now be based on when you choose to use electricity. The delivery portion of your bill will also be based on how efficiently you use the grid. To lower your costs, use fewer devices at the same time and shift the use of large devices to off-peak hours.
You’ve Got Two Ways to Save
Shift your energy use to off-peak hours to lower your supply and delivery costs.
Summer Peak: June 1 to September 30, noon to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday
Non-Summer Peak: October 1 to May 31, noon to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday
Year-Round Off-Peak: All other hours
Stagger the use of your large electric devices instead of using them all at the same time for even greater savings on delivery costs.
The difference between your delivery charges on our standard rate and the Smart Energy Plan is like the difference between a car’s speedometer and odometer. The speedometer indicates a car’s speed at a specific moment in time, similar to how your supply and delivery will now be measured. The odometer indicates the number of miles a car travels over time, similar to how your supply and delivery are measured on the standard rate.

We buy the energy you use in the competitive, wholesale supply market. We pass our costs on to you, without taking a profit—what we pay, you pay. That means supply rates on the Smart Energy Plan better reflect the actual supply costs at the time of use.

If you don’t think the Smart Energy Plan is right for you, you can opt out at any time with no penalty or termination fee.
