Give Your Pets a Treat with Con Edison's Smart AC Program

Customers Can Control Temps Remotely, Keep Pets Comfy

Con Edison residential customers can have cool cats, avoid hot dogs and warm up to convenience by participating in the company’s Smart AC program  this summer.

And customers who use their air conditioners wisely can save cold cash with the help of the program.

Customers in the program get a free smartAC kit that lets them pre-set the temperature in their home or apartment. By using the kit’s pet mode, a customer can set the temperature at a level that will keep pets comfortable while the customer is at work or school.

Customers can also enhance their own comfort by participating in the program. A customer who wants to walk into a comfortable house or apartment can remotely program the air conditioner from a computer or smart device before arriving home.

The program provides rewards for customers who participate. A customer can get $25 or more in rewards by enrolling a standard window air conditioner, and $95 or more by enrolling a Wi-Fi air conditioner.

Customers can then earn more rewards by participating in Cool Points Hours, which occur three to five times throughout the summer on hot days when demand for power is high.

During Cool Points Hours, a customer’s air conditioner may automatically save energy by turning on and off. Your thermostat may also adjust to a comfortable but slightly higher temperature.

A customer can override Con Edison’s adjustments.

Customers can sign up on Con Edison’s website.

Smart AC is one of several programs Con Edison is offering this summer to help customers save money and energy and stay comfortable. Customers can register certain smart thermostats with Con Edison and get up $135.

The company is also offering a $30 rebate for customers who purchase a new Energy Star air conditioner.

Con Edison is a subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc. [NYSE: ED], one of the nation's largest investor-owned energy companies, with approximately $12 billion in annual revenues and $49 billion in assets.
