Westchester Resident Kevin Walline Wins Con Edison's Highest Honor
Kevin J. Walline a resident of Westchester County and Splicer for Con Edison has won the company’s highest honor, the “Living Our Values” Award.
This recognition is given annually to Con Edison employees who exemplify the company’s values of service, teamwork, excellence, and concern for the quality of life in their community.
Walline has been with the company for five decades starting in 1966. He currently works to supply crew members in Brooklyn and Queens with their proper equipment.
“Part of my success here has been my willingness to learn from others and to consistently come up with new ways to work more efficiently,” said Walline. “Creativity plays a large part in our success as a team.”
Walline noticed crews struggling to lift slabs that cover underground transformers with heavy and inefficient “lifting bars.” He worked with the company’s engineering department to develop lightweight bars that were more efficient and safer for employees to use when lifting heavy equipment.
Within the Con Edison community, Walline organizes a charity softball tournament and barbeque raising $200,000 over the last 20 years for Guiding Eyes for the Blind and Mercy First. Kevin demonstrates his compassion for athletes with physical and mental disabilities by coaching Challenger Softball and Challenger Soccer. He has been a coach for Special Olympics golf for the past 14 years at Harbor Links in Port Washington.
