Queens Resident Shaun Smith Wins Con Edison's Highest Honor
Shaun Smith, a resident of Rockaway Beach and a section manager for Con Edison, has won the company's highest honor, the "Living Our Values" award.
Smith, who joined the company in 2003, was chosen for exemplifying Con Edison's values of service, teamwork, excellence and community service.Smith is part of a team that is responsible for all residential and commercial electrical services in Queens and has focused on enhancing the customer experience. He manages a department of 85 employees, both union and management.Smith received this honor because of his commitment to work and community. He has participated in several volunteer activities, including raising funds and walking in the Prospect Park Annual Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) FunWalk. He also works with elementary schools in Brooklyn and Queens.He participates in the Annual Career Fair for P.S. 268 in Brooklyn, and helps with the "Change for Kids Program" for P.S. 160 in Jamaica, Queens. He also gives back to his high school, Calabar High, in the island of Jamaica by being the benefactor of a scholarship aimed to help promising young men from the inner city communities.Smith was born and raised in the island of Jamaica, and won several national speech awards from a young age. He migrated to New York to attend The City College of New York to pursue a degree in electrical engineering. He earned magna cum laude honors, as well as several other accolades and distinctions, including Engineering Honor Societies and National Honors.He also earned an MBA in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business and a Master's in electrical engineering from Manhattan College. His hobbies include playing soccer and working out.
