When you think about The Consolidated Edison Thrift Savings Plan, you probably think about a time in the future when you'll retire and start taking distributions. Or maybe you think about the plan flexibility you enjoy today, the features that make the plan a smart—and virtually painless—way to save for your future.

However, there may be times when you wonder more about where the fund managers invest your money—and other details about the funds. You want the facts—the fund facts.® is your definitive source for fund information. Plus the bulk of fund information is updated every business day!

It's easy to find details on total returns, portfolio holdings, expense ratios, and even obtain prospectuses. And if you explore for these data, you'll discover a world of investing information, all available 24/7.

Learn About Vanguard and Other Plan Funds
Once you're at, find the link in the lower middle section of your screen – “Explore an area dedicated to your retirement needs.” You'll see that the “Retirement Plans” screen is your gateway to a world of support for your retirement investing. You can enroll, study financial topics, use interactive online tools, request a rollover (into your plan), and more.

After you've found “log on” at the upper right, you'll arrive at the “Log On” screen. Simply enter your personal information to access your account. If you have any questions or need assistance with the process, please call a Vanguard® Participant Services associate at 1-800-523-1188. Associates are available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Eastern time.

Your first view will be of “Your Plan at a Glance” and “Your Total Asset Allocation.” Like the previous screen's options, here you can study the information, dig deeper into investment topics, and make account changes. Begin with the “Funds” tab at the top to get started researching plan and non-plan investments!

A table on the “Funds” page covers for each fund:
  • Official name
  • Ticker symbol
  • Price and change as of the most current business date
  • More ways to research funds
Reviewing Fund in Detail
Click the fund name to see a snapshot of the fund that includes:
  • A tool to define who should invest
  • Investment-style information
  • Asset type
  • Category
  • More information on past performance
Review the following for help in assimilating the information — and applying it to your strategy in The Consolidated Edison Thrift Savings Plan. Peruse both:
  • Glossary of Financial Terms
  • Important Fund Performance Information
Understanding Past Performance
Knowing the past performance of a fund can be useful. Yet it clearly is not a guarantee of similar — or any level of — future performance. However, it does show the track record that investment managers have garnered over time. When looking at the data, remember that the markets have had significant swings (both up and down) in the past and that in some cases, management teams have changed. Many factors affect past results.

Your Account Matters
Log on at to check account balances, conduct transactions, research funds, and use financial-planning tools. You'll need your plan number to register, which is 090041, 090042, or 090404. Confirm your plan number by checking your account statement. You can also elect to view your statements on line. Consider the funds' cost of paper and mailing by opting to receive your statements online and not in the mail.

Don't Forget the Prospectus
There are reasons that investing materials direct you to a fund's prospectus. It is a standardized and comprehensive booklet that covers virtually every facet a prudent investor needs to know when selecting an investment. On the “Funds” page you can choose “Prospectuses and fact sheets” and download these items — or receive them by mail. The prospectus will cover these in detail:
  • Fees & minimums
  • Distributions
  • Who should invest
  • Holdings
  • Account options
  • Risk attributes
  • Performance
  • News
  • Management
  • Price history
