Give Your Old Mouse, VCRs the Boot: Con Edison and Lower East Side Ecology Center Dig Into Recycling Event

July 25, 2008 – Con Edison has joined the Lower East Side Ecology Center (LESEC) to sponsor an electronic recycling event at the New York Hall of Science in Corona, Queens on Saturday, August 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, August 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Monday, August 4, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This electronic recycling event encourages city residents to turn in unwanted electronic waste, or e-waste, such as computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, televisions, VCRs, copiers, and cell phones.

E-waste contains materials that can be hazardous if not disposed of properly and recycling them helps protect landfills from electronics waste. Recycling e-waste is a proactive approach to an important environmental issue.

For more information about the event and what will be accepted, visit www.lesecologycenter.org or call 1-212-477-4022.

Con Edison’s partnership with the LESEC is one part of its comprehensive environmental initiatives through EnergyNY, Con Edison’s recently announced plan to meet the future energy needs of its customers through infrastructure upgrades and energy efficiency programs. EnergyNY can be viewed at www.conEd.com/energyny.
