Natural gas is one of the cleanest burning fuels available, and it's a great alternative to oil. Natural gas is a better fuel source for your home, your health, the environment, and your peace of mind. Natural gas is the right choice.

Energy Efficiency
You may already use natural gas in your home for cooking. But did you know about the other advantages of natural gas for your home? And a gas-powered hot-water heater provides more precise temperature control and quick recovery time for hot showers and baths. The use of natural gas in your home can help you conserve natural resources because it reduces energy production.
Right for the Environment
The American Gas Association reports that the inherent cleanliness of natural gas relative to other fossil fuels, in conjunction with its high efficiency, results in numerous environmental benefits. Natural gas produces less particulates when it is burned, so fewer harmful particles will enter your lungs. Other benefits include lower emission levels of the criteria pollutants regulated by the Clean Air Act, and carbon dioxide, the principal greenhouse gas.
For Example
Carbon dioxide emissions are about 42 percent lower for gas-heated residences than those heated with oil. Annual overall CO2 emissions for gas-heated homes range from 7,432 pounds for a 1,500 square-foot home to 10,583 pounds for a 3,000 square-foot home compared to 13,095 to 15,198 pounds for similar sized homes heated with oil.

Reliable and Safe
Con Edison will deliver natural gas safely to your home through an extensive, well-maintained gas delivery system. Natural gas will provide you with even, efficient heating and comfort. And because a natural gas heating system requires minimal service, you'll spend less time scheduling appointments and waiting for repairs.

Natural gas is piped directly into your home, so you won’t have to worry about running out of fuel, a leaking oil tank, or oil spills and contamination. By eliminating your outdoor oil tank, you’ll avoid a possible ground cave-in. And no oil tank indoors means more space for your storage needs.
