In Partnership with NHS, Con Edison Helps to Educate Underserved Communities:

NHSNeighborhood Housing Services of New York (NHS) revitalizes underserved neighborhoods by creating and preserving affordable housing and providing opportunities for homeownership education, financial assistance and community leadership. Working in partnership with government and businesses, the organization is led by local residents and guided by local needs.

Con Edison has been a continuous partner of NHS, helping to launch and grow the organization's Neighborhood Preservation and Stabilization program. The program responds to the critical need for energy efficiency in New York City communities. As a partner in the effort to reduce energy consumption, Con Edison offers free Energy Efficiency Surveys and Equipment Rebate Programs to all clients of the NHS.

Con Edison and City Year Teach Students to Be Environmental StewardCity Year unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service, giving them the skills and opportunities to change the world. As tutors, mentors and role models, these diverse young leaders help children stay in school and on track, and transform schools and communities globally.

Con Edison supports City Year's school-wide recycling and environmental after-school program at IS 204 Middle School and IS 126 in Long Island City, Queens. The program develops sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students into leaders as they learn about environmental challenges each week, and research ways to address them.
