PUTNAM RESIDENT THOMAS CUCCIA WINS CON EDISON'S HIGHEST HONOR

NEW YORK – Thomas Cuccia, a resident of Kent Cliffs and Senior Technician for Con Edison, has won the company’s highest honor, the “Living Our Values” award.

Cuccia, who joined the company in 1972, was chosen for exemplifying Con Edison’s values of service, teamwork, excellence and community service.

“Tom is a dedicated employee who is truly concerned about his fellow employees and the customers we serve in Westchester County. Tom is also an important part of the Westchester community.” said John Hughes, Construction Manager. “His concern for his co-workers and community have earned him the respect of everyone here at Con Edison.”

Cuccia is part of a team that works with the various municipalities in Westchester County to obtain permits for work Con Edison will be performing.

One of his most challenging and important projects, was working on a team that helped the company net a savings of $3 million by identifying and cutting wasteful spending and implementing new procedures for employees that direct traffic near work sites. Cuccia, as well as the other four team members were awarded the 2011 Con Edison Team Award for their efforts.

"It was the most rewarding and interesting project I have worked on in my years of service with Con Edison," Cuccia said. "The satisfaction comes from knowing that our team effort, net a savings to the consumer and the company. I'm proud of all my team's accomplishments. If you have a good team, anything is possible."

Cuccia's good work does not end when he leaves Con Edison each day. He and his wife of 36 years, Linda, have two children, Keith and Tracy Lyn.

Thomas is also active in various charities in Westchester and Putnam County. He helps to raise money on a regular basis for the Rosary Hill Home. Rosary Hill is a hospice home located in Westchester County that solely runs on donations and is operated by the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne. He also actively participates in his local Putnam County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (N.A.M.I). In addition Thomas participates in charity functions for the Children's Miracle Network. The Children's Miracle Network helps as many children as possible by raising funds for local children's hospitals.
