CON EDISON REDUCES VOLTAGE IN SOME QUEENS NEIGHBORHOODS

NEW YORK – Con Edison has reduced voltage by 5 percent in the areas of Douglaston Manor, Douglaston, Little Neck, Bayside, Bay Terrace, Auburndale, College Point, Beechurst, Whitestone, Linden Hill, Queensborough Hill, and Murray Hill due to problems on electrical equipment serving those areas.

The company is not asking customers in those areas to take any special measures at this time.

Nevertheless, while not asking customers to take any special measures, Con Edison is emphasizing using energy wisely as the hot weather continues, urging customers to turn off lights and air conditioners in areas or rooms not being used.

Customers can report power interruptions or service problems as well as view service restoration information online at www.conEd.com and on their cell phones and PDAs. Customers may also call Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633). When reporting an outage, customers should have their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether their neighbors also have lost power.

The company is in constant communication with the New York City Office of Emergency Management.
