CON EDISON REDUCES VOLTAGE 5 PERCENT IN THE SOUTHEAST BRONX
OK to Use Air Conditioning and Other Appliances
NEW YORK – Con Edison crews are continuing to provide service reliably during the heat wave, while continuing to ask customers to conserve and use energy wisely.
Con Edison is making a five percent voltage reduction in the following communities: Parkchester, Van Nest, Westchester Square, Soundview, Clason Point, Pelham Bay, Country Club, Schuylerville, Edgewater Park, Throgs Neck and Castle Hill.
The voltage reduction was done as a precaution to protect equipment and maintain service during the hot weather as company crews work to repair two feeders in the area.
The company is not asking customers in those areas to take any special measures at this time.
Customers can report power interruptions or service problems, view service restoration information and the outage map online at www.conEd.com, as well as on their mobile devices. They also may call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633) promptly if they are experiencing any service difficulties. When reporting an outage, customers should have their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether their neighbors also have lost power. Customers who report outages will be called by Con Edison with their estimated restoration times as they become available.
The company is in constant communication with the New York City Office of Emergency Management and the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services.
