CON EDISON CREWS WORKING THROUGH HEAT,
COMPANY REDUCES VOLTAGE 5 PERCENT IN SOME BROOKLYN NEIGHBORHOODS
OK to Use Air Conditioning and Other Appliances
NEW YORK – Con Edison crews are continuing to work through the heat to provide reliable service, while the company reminds customers to use energy wisely.
Con Edison has reduced voltage by 5 percent in the following areas of Brooklyn as a precaution while repairs are made to equipment serving these communities:
- Crown Heights, East Flatbush, East New York, Ocean Hill, Brownsville, Williamsburg, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Bushwick and Greenpoint.
- Flatbush, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Prospect Heights, Canarsie, Flatlands, Mill Basin, Old Mill Basin, Bergen Beach, Georgetown, Coney Island, Seagate, Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach, Sheepshead Bay.
The company is not asking customers in those areas to take any special measures at this time.
Customers can report power interruptions or service problems, view service restoration information and the outage map online at www.conEd.com, as well as on their mobile devices. They also may call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633) promptly if they are experiencing any service difficulties. When reporting an outage, customers should have their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether their neighbors also have lost power. Customers who report outages will be called by Con Edison with their estimated restoration times as they become available.
The company is in constant communication with the New York City Office of Emergency Management and the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services.
