NEW YORK – Doris Castro, a Con Edison section manager in Customer Operations, was named by ASPIRA as a 2012 Latino Achiever.  Castro was recognized by the national organization for her professional accomplishments as part of her stellar career at the utility.

Castro, a resident of East Stroudsburg, PA, has held positions of increasing responsibility in 29 years at Con Edison. She works closely with customers, advocacy groups, community boards, public officials and the New York State Public Service Commission improving the service Con Edison provides to nine million New Yorkers.

“I’m grateful and honored to receive this award, and to serve as a role model to inspire other Latinos to achieve their professional goals,” Castro said. “Con Edison affords me the leadership and opportunity to work in productive teams with supportive people who have contributed to my success.”

The ASPIRA Circle of Latino Achievers awards were held on June 13 in New York City. The organization provides companies, non-profits, labor organizations and government agencies an opportunity to recognize outstanding Latino employees.
