A GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY:
BOB MISSIG REACHES 50 YEARS WITH CON EDISON
NEW YORK – Bob Missig, a senior designer in Con Edison’s Gas Engineering Department, has celebrated 50 years of service with the New York City and Westchester based utility.
Missig is Consolidated Edison Inc.’s 24th current employee with 50 or more years of service, an unusual record across America’s corporate landscape in 2012.
After graduating Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens and doing a short stint in an architectural firm, Missig joined Con Edison in June of 1962, a few short months before the onset of the Cuban Missile Crisis. He has worked as a designer at the company ever since, and has changed his approach to design as production methods have changed.
“Bob is a very positive individual, and he always approaches the challenges we face in a very affirmative way,” said Neela Mangray, a Con Edison Gas Engineering supervisor. “He inspires confidence and makes people comfortable, and his reservoir of experience reflects in his ability and judgment.”
The Queens native now resides in Harlem, and commutes to the company’s Van Nest facility in the Bronx every day.
Con Edison is a subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc. [NYSE: ED], one of the nation’s largest investor-owned energy companies, with approximately $13 billion in annual revenues and $40 billion in assets. The utility provides electric, gas and steam service to more than three million customers in New York City and Westchester County, New York.
