CON EDISON TO ASSIST NSTAR IN BOSTON
NEW YORK – Con Edison is sending six generators and a Mack truck with cable to Boston to help with the power outages that occurred overnight.
"Five one-megawatt generators and one two-megawatt generator left Con Edison's Astoria Yard at 2:45 a.m.," said John Miksad, Con Edison's senior vice president, Electric Operations. "The generators are already within Boston's city limits, and are on their way to Dorchester, where they will be staged."
The six tractor-trailers carrying the generators also were accompanied by a seventh, hauling a rack of cable. Two supervisors also accompanied the mechanics driving the rigs.
