NEW YORK – Con Edison’s Green Team has helped Concordia College of Bronxville save nearly $100,000 annually through the installation of energy efficient lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.

The installations, which included approximately $213,000 in incentives through Con Edison’s Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Energy Efficiency Program, will help the college avoid more than 388 metric tons of carbon emissions annually; the equivalent of taking more than 76 cars off the road.

Concordia, which partnered with Johnson Controls, Inc., expects to save over 550,000 kWh of electricity and 6,700 therms of natural gas annually.

“Con Edison is helping colleges, and other commercial and industrial customers, improve the efficiency and operation of their buildings,” said David Pospisil, manager of Con Edison’s C & I program. “It’s an investment that saves energy and money year after year, while providing a better environment for the people who use these high-performance buildings.”

"We're pleased to be part of this major energy conservation project with Con Edison," said Dr. Viji George, president of Concordia College. "Since the first phase of the energy savings program at Concordia was completed, our campus has become more green and energy efficient. We plan on continuing these conservation efforts in the future."

The C&I program has given out over $7,000,000 in incentive checks to over 800 customers who have participated in the program.

The Con Edison Green Team has an energy efficiency program available for almost everyone. To learn which program is right for you, call the Green Team at 1-877-860-6118 or visit

Con Edison’s C&I customers can learn how they can capitalize on their energy-saving potential at the Con Edison 2nd annual Energy Efficiency Summit on May 1 at the New York Hilton. The one-day summit will feature energy-saving business strategies, new technologies and valuable rebates and incentives available to the utility’s C&I customers.
