CON EDISON VOLUNTEERS CELEBRATE
"THANKSGIVING IN FEBRUARY"
St. Francis Food Pantries Benefit
NEW YORK – Dozens of Con Edison employees recently volunteered to serve turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy at the 10th annual "Thanksgiving in February" feast at the Affinia Hotel in Midtown.
The traditional feast, organized by the Saint Francis Food Pantries and hosted by Con Edison, served up the holiday meal for more than 1,000 guests from the St. Francis network.
The Affinia Hotel ballroom was transformed into a holiday wonderland with face painting, balloons and a magician for children, along with special appearances by Broadway legend Chita Rivera and Miss New York Teen USA Sabrina Mastrangelo.
Chef Dale Spinks and his staff from Niles Restaurant prepared the sumptuous sit-down meal, served by volunteers from Con Edison, Macy's and the hotel.
Con Edison supports hundreds of nonprofit organizations in New York City and Westchester County to strengthen neighborhoods, sustain communities and improve lives. These philanthropic efforts support the arts, environment, and important educational initiatives in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Many of Con Edison's 14,000 employees share a personal commitment to the region's vitality through their own volunteer efforts and also choose to support education by utilizing the company's matching gifts program.
