CON EDISON GAVE IT THE GAS
TO SERVE CUSTOMERS DURING BRUTAL HEAT WAVE
NEW YORK – While Con Edison customers set records for electrical demand during the recent four-day heat wave, the company also relied on its gas system to deliver the fuel for all that power generation.
Last Thursday, the first day of the sweltering heat, placed second on Con Edison’s all-time list of days for gas used for electric and steam generation The company delivered 941,251 dekatherms of gas for electric and steam generation that day.
On Friday, the company delivered the third largest amount of gas for electric and steam generation, at 923,174 dekatherms.
The record delivery of gas for electric and steam generation in one day is 955,361 dekatherms, on July 17, 2006.
