Con Edison Saluted for Supporting Military

Con Edison has been honored as one of the most valuable employers for military talent. The recognition, the Most Valuable Employers for Military 2009 by Civilian Jobs.com, is based on surveys in which employers outlined their 2009 recruiting, training and retention plans that best serve military service members and veterans. The award is open to U.S.-based companies.

”Serving in the Armed Forces is a privilege and an honor, and Con Edison is proud to support our employees who served and continue to serve our country so admirably,” said Mary Adamo, Vice President of Human Resources. “The leadership and technical training military service members receive are invaluable, especially to a company like ours.”

Con Edison has a rich history of recruiting military service members and approximately 200 company employees are listed as veterans or reservists. Eight employees are currently on military leave.

“It is with a sincere sense of appreciation that I offer congratulations to the MVE award recipients,” said Sandra (Sandy) Morris, CEO of Bradley-Morris, Inc. (BMI), parent company of CivilianJobs.com. “Since 1991, we have observed companies that benefit from sourcing military-experienced talent in virtually every U.S. industry. Now, to be able to recognize the best of these employers is very rewarding.”

Consolidated Edison, Inc. [NYSE: ED], one of the nation’s largest investor-owned energy companies, with approximately $14 billion in annual revenues and $34 billion in assets. The utility provides electric, gas and steam service to more than 3 million customers in New York City and Westchester County, New York.
