STORM UPDATE:

CON EDISON CREWS RESTORE CUSTOMERS IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY AND THE BRONX AFTER STORM WHIPS REGION

NEW YORK – Con Edison crews worked non-stop since late Tuesday night to restore power to the approximately 18,500 customers in Westchester County and the Bronx affected by Tuesday’s violent storm.

Within eight hours of the storm, additional crews from Staten Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens arrived in Westchester County to help in restoring electrical service to our customers.

Among the hardest hit Westchester communities were Mount Vernon, Rye, New Rochelle, and Pelham. Also affected were the Riverdale, Country Club and Laconia neighborhoods in the Bronx.

Support crews and contractors assessed damage, removed downed trees, and cleared and replaced damaged wires. Additional service representatives worked through the night to respond to customers’ calls.

While the majority of customers were restored, there may be areas scattered around Westchester County where outages remain. To report an outage online go to www.ConEd.com or call 1-800-75-CONED.

When reporting an outage, customers should have their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether their neighbors also have lost power.

Con Edison will provide updates to affected customers both directly and through the media as the situation warrants. In addition, important information will also be posted on the company’s Web site, www.conEd.com. The company is in constant communication with the New York City Office of Emergency Management and or the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services.
