NewsCon Edison Media RelationsFor Immediate Release: June 11, 2008 11:30 a.m. STORM UPDATE:CON EDISON WORKING TO RESTORE POWER FOR CUSTOMERS KNOCKED OUT BY THUNDERSTORMNEW YORK – Con Edison crews continue to restore power to homes and businesses affected by Tuesday night’s severe thunderstorms, which knocked out electrical service to approximately 18,500 customers primarily in Westchester County and the Bronx. About 10,000 customers in Westchester have been restored so far. The company estimates that power will be returned to the majority of the 5,000 remaining Westchester customers by midnight tonight. For the Bronx, the company has restored about 2,500 customers and estimates that power will be restored to the majority of the remaining 1,000 customers by midnight tonight as well. Among the hardest hit Westchester communities are Mount Vernon, Rye, New Rochelle, and Pelham. Also affected are the Country Club and Laconia neighborhoods in the Bronx. The company asks customers to report power interruptions or service problems online at www.conEd.com, or by calling Con Edison’s toll-free customer service number 1-800-75-CON ED (1-800-752-6633). When reporting an outage, customers should have their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether their neighbors also have lost power. Con Edison offers the following safety tips:
