CON EDISON CONTINUES TO ASK CUSTOMERS IN THE SOUTHERN PARTS OF BROOKLYN TO CONSERVE

NEW YORK – Con Edison is asking customers to conserve electricity in certain neighborhoods in the middle and southern parts of Brooklyn.

The affected neighborhoods cover an area bounded by Avenue H on the north, Shore Parkway and Gravesend Neck Road on the south, 19th and 20th Avenues on the west, and East 15th and 16th Streets on the east. Included are parts of Bensonhurst and the neighborhoods of Midwood, Gravesend, Ocean Parkway and Sheepshead Bay.

Company crews are working now to repair the problems in these areas. Con Edison has asked customers in the affected areas to refrain from using washers and dryers, dishwashers, and to turn off any non-essential appliances to help reduce electricity usage until equipment problems can be resolved.

The company urges customers to report power interruptions or service problems online at www.conEd.com, or by calling Con Edison’s toll-free customer service number 1-800-75-CON ED (1-800-752-6633). When reporting an outage, customers should have their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether their neighbors also have lost power.

Con Edison will provide updates to affected customers both directly and through the media as the situation warrants. The company is in constant communication with the New York City Office of Emergency Management and the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services.
