FLOOD RELATED OUTAGES IN WESTCHESTER COASTAL COMMUNITIES

NEW YORK -- At the request of local municipal public safety officials, Con Edison is in the process of interrupting gas and/or electric service to 1,500 residential and business customers in a number of coastal communities including the Town and Village of Mamaroneck, Village of Larchmont, Village of Rye Brook, the City of Rye and New Rochelle.   Service has been temporarily disconnected for safety reasons in areas experiencing extensive flooding.  Rising water that comes into contact with equipment in basements and other areas can result in hazardous conditions.

The number of customers affected could change as the storm progresses.  Customers will need to coordinate with their municipal officials to restore services once flooding has subsided.

At this time, the severe flooding is also impacting our equipment resulting in 1,700 outages.

Other residents experiencing service problems should contact Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED.
