CON EDISON ADDS EXTRA CREWS, PREPARES FOR HEAVY WINDS
NEW YORK – With a forecast for sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour and gusts of up to 40 miles per hour, Con Edison is preparing to mobilize extra crews throughout Westchester County today to be ready to respond to any power outages that might occur. Falling trees and broken tree limbs can knock down power lines and often result in extensive damage to overhead power systems.
Con Edison is urging any customer who loses power to notify the company by calling 1-800-75CONED. Customers with Internet access can also report outages online by going to www.conEd.com, clicking on the Customer Central button, and following the link to Report Electric Problem. Customers should not assume the company is aware that they are without service.
Con Edison will have additional staff available to assess any damage from the winds and fallen trees, in addition to tree-trimming crews, skilled mechanics expert at making repairs to overhead equipment, and safety personnel. Staff will work around the clock to ensure that all customers receive safe and reliable service.
The company will be in contact with local and municipal officials, as well as the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services to keep them up to date on all efforts.
