CON EDISON URGES CUSTOMERS IN PARTS OF WESTCHESTER COUNTY
TO REDUCE THEIR USE OF ELECTRICITY

NEW YORK - Con Edison is asking customers in Yonkers, Harrison, Port Chester, Rye and Rye Brook to discontinue their use of non-essential electrical appliances and equipment as a precaution until problems on electrical feeder cables supplying power to this area can be resolved. Conservation will help reduce the electric load.  Company crews are in the area working to correct the problem.

The company is urging all customers in the area to discontinue their use of non-essential electrical appliances and equipment such as washers, dryers, air conditioners and other energy-intensive equipment, and to turn off lights and televisions when not needed.

The feeder cable problems in this area have no effect on the rest of the Con Edison system.  Con Edison will provide updates as the situation warrants.  The company is in constant communication with the New York City Office of Emergency Management.
