NEW YORK -Consolidated Edison (Con Edison) will sponsor Green Horizons, a conference that provides middle school students interested in a career in environmental and natural resources with an opportunity to meet and work with professionals in those fields.

This year's event on October 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be held at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, where students from all five boroughs will have access to "hands-on" lessons about numerous environmental careers. Students will learn through activities in19 stations led by professionals in areas that include arboriculture, ornithology, horticulture, floriculture, forestry, entomology, landscape architecture, animal science and air/water quality monitoring.

"For 10 years, Con Edison has sponsored Green Horizons," said Frances A. Resheske, Con Edison's senior vice president for public affairs. "This program is a great opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in the environmental field."

Green Horizons will be co-convened by New York ReLeaf and the Environmental Education Advisory Council. The career day will be facilitated by Magnolia Tree Earth Center of Bedford-Stuyvesant.
