NewsCon Edison Media RelationsFor Immediate Release: July 27, 2005 CON EDISON URGES CUSTOMERS IN CENTRAL BROOKLYN TO REDUCE THEIR USE OF ELECTRICITY
NEW YORK - Con Edison is asking customers in the Crown Heights, Flatbush, East Flatbush, Brownsville and Ocean Hill neighborhoods to discontinue their use of non-essential electrical appliances and equipment as a precaution until problems on electrical feeder cables supplying power to these neighborhoods can be resolved. Although no customers have lost power, conservation will help reduce the electric load in these areas. The affected area, with about 76,000 customers, is bounded by Fulton Street on the north, Clarendon Road on the south, Alabama Avenue on the east and New York Avenue on the west. Company crews are in the area working to correct the problem.
