NEW YORK - Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) this weekend joined the eighth annual celebration of America Recycles Day (ARD) with a day of fun-filled activities at The Learning Center in Long Island City. The nationwide celebration, whose theme this year is “It All Comes Back To You,” is designed to encourage recycling and the purchase of recycled products.

During Con Edison’s event on Saturday, with the collaboration of New York City’s Materials for the Arts and teaching artist Rebecca Goyette, children and their families participated in various activities, including arts and crafts workshops, exhibits, giveaways, raffles, and a magic show while they learned the fundamentals of recycling, energy efficiency and resource conservation.

“America Recycles has become a catalyst in promoting the social, environmental and economic benefits of recycling and buying recycled products,” said Frances Resheske, Con Edison’s senior vice president for Public Affairs. “We are proud to join the rest of the nation in advancing America Recycles’ goals, which greatly benefit the communities we serve.”

Celebrated year-round, America Recycles Day culminates every November 15 as a reminder that recycling works and that each person plays an important part in its success.
