CON EDISON PRESENTS TOYS FOR TOTS AT NEW YORK-PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL/WEILL CORNELL MEDICAL CENTER AND SLOAN KETTERING PEDIATRIC UNIT
NEW YORK - Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) today brought some holiday cheer to children at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center Pediatric Unit and Burn Center, and the Sloan Kettering Pediatrics Unit in Manhattan. The children received toys collected by Con Edison employees as part of the Toys for Tots program.
"Toys for Tots is a wonderful way to touch the lives of children during the holiday season," said Andrew Jacob, Con Edison's vice president of Steam Operations. "We are honored to be a part of this program. Every year our employees collect thousands of toys, looking forward to days like this one, when we can bring some happiness and comfort to the children in our communities."
This is the fourth year that Con Edison has joined the United States Marine Corps in the Toys for Tots program. Established by Major Bill Hendricks in Los Angeles in 1947, this program expanded nationally as a community action project. Today, Marines and volunteers collect and distribute nearly 14 million toys in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and American Samoa.
