For Immediate Release: August 15, 2003 — 2:30 p.m.

NEW YORK – As of 2:30 p.m., Con Edison has restored power to nearly 1.8 million of its 3.1 million customers. Power has been restored to portions of all five boroughs and Westchester County. Con Edison continues to make restorations as more power generation becomes available.

We urge customers who have power to conserve energy and to refrain from using large appliances. Customers still without power should keep electric switches in the "off" position.
