CON EDISON RESTORES POWER TO LOWER MANHATTAN
NEW YORK – Con Edison restored power to all customers in lower Manhattan shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday.
More than 200 Con Edison employees worked to restore power to 63,500 customers after a transformer fire at Con Edison's 14th Street plant.
There were no reported injuries from the 12:40 p.m. fire.
Con Edison thanks the Fire and Police Departments, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and the New York City Office of Emergency Management for their assistance and continues to work closely with city officials.
Con Edison urges customers to reduce unnecessary energy use, including turning off non-essential appliances.
