CON EDISON SPONSORS THIRD ANNUAL CORPORATE CITIZENS CONFERENCE: PARTNERS IN THE COMMUNITY
Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) today sponsored its third annual Corporate Citizens Conference: “Partners in the Community,” aimed at examining how technology can create opportunities for the educational, economic and social advancement of the Latino community. Con Edison was joined by representatives of Con Edison Communications, Chase Manhattan Bank,Verizon Communications, New York First, La Guardia Community College, Queens Borough Public Library, Lehman College, the National Puerto Rican Forum, Skyline Features, TCD Public Relations, and the Hispanic Federation.
Panel presentations addressed the challenge of increasing the technological resources available to Latinos. Relevant topics included e-Commerce, Corporate Responsibility, e-Employment, and Computer Accessibility and Training.
“We at Con Edison understand the value of listening to the ideas and concerns of the diverse communities we serve. In this case, the Hispanic community,” said Marilyn Caselli, Con Edison’s Vice President of Customer Operations. “This conference is an excellent opportunity to join with other corporate entities to listen to those ideas and concerns, and help identify and solve emerging problems. By combining resources, we can better respond to the needs of the Hispanic community.”
Participants in the conference included Keynote Speaker Dr. Ricardo R. Fernández, President, Lehman College; Felipe J. Alvarez, Vice President and COO, Con Edison Communications; and Michael P. Mazza, Vice President & Chief Architect of Chase.com.
Other participants will include Ramón Moya, Director, Diversity Supplier Group, Verizon; Dr. Jorge A. Pérez, Professor of Mathematics, La Guardia Community College; Gary E. Strong, Director, Queens Borough Public Library; and Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez, Executive Director, Hispanic Federation.
