He will be responsible for customer relationships, marketing and sales, electric engineering, and facilities support for Con Edison’s electric distribution system, as well as coordinating storm outage restoration.
“We’re fortunate to have someone of Steve Wood’s ability, knowledge and experience working in behalf of our customers. The company’s goal is to further improve the most reliable energy distribution system in the country and we’re confident that Steve will play an important role in helping us reach that goal,” said Robert W. Donohue, senior vice president of electric operations for Con Edison. Wood, 48, comes to Con Edison from the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BG&E), which he joined in 1976, and where he served in positions of increasing responsibility. Most recently, he was vice president of electric transmission and distribution, responsible for all aspects of planning, constructing, operating and maintaining the electric distribution, substation and transmission systems.
Prior to that position, Wood was president and chief executive officer of Constellation Energy Projects & Service, Inc., an unregulated affiliate of BG&E, where he was responsible for initial start up, development and management of a highly diversified, multi-million dollar business consisting of four operating entities.
Previously at BG&E, he was vice president of marketing and sales, as well as having managed major customer projects, system engineering and construction, distribution engineering, and corporate transportation.
Wood holds a master of business administration degree in marketing and finance from Loyola College of Maryland, a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He resides in Manhattan, with his wife Joy and daughter Amy.
