RESHESKE NAMED CON EDISON VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) announced today that Frances A. Resheske was promoted to vice president of public affairs. Ms. Resheske, who joined Con Edison on February 1, 1999, previously held the position of director of public affairs. Ms. Resheskeís promotion is effective June 1, 1999.

"Frances is very talented and has already made important contributions in the few months since she arrived at Con Edison," said Eugene R. McGrath, Chairman of the Board. "We look forward to her success in strategically positioning Con Edison as an industry leader in the New York community as well as nationally."

As vice president of public affairs, Ms. Resheske will be responsible for corporate and employee communications, as well as government, community and media relations.

Ms. Resheske moved to Con Edison from Brooklyn Union, where she was the general manager of government relations and community development. Prior to joining Brooklyn Union in 1990, she held a number of important positions with city government, including director of public and intergovernmental affairs for the Department of Ports and Trade; director of governmental affairs for the Financial Services Corporation; and borough coordinator for the mayor.

A summa cum laude graduate of St. Johnís University, where she earned a bachelorís degree in government and politics, Ms. Resheske has taught government and politics courses at that institution.

A board member of numerous not-for-profit, community-based organizations, Ms. Resheske serves as board president of the Queens Theatre in the Park. Ms. Resheske is a recipient of Crainís New York Business 40 Under 40 Rising Stars Award, and in 1997 received the prestigious Womenís Agenda Star Award. She is currently a Rockefeller Fellow.

Ms. Resheske was raised in Queens and now resides in Brooklyn Heights.
