Con Edison Opens 24-Hour
Interactive Investor Relations Line
Con Edison's 145,000 common stock shareholders can now
access their common share stock accounts and obtain up-to-
date information concerning Con Edison stock 24- hours-a-
day, seven days a week by calling a toll-free number.
"This interactive phone service gives our stockholders
easy access to their accounts and provides an efficient way
to obtain information that stockholders may find useful,"
said Joan M. Kistinger, Con Edison's manager of investor
services.
The automated toll-free telephone number, 1-800-522-
5522, functions through a Voice-Response Unit or VRU, with
options based on the time of day the caller accesses the
number. Callers may speak with a Con Edison Investor
Services staff member Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m.
All calls concerning stockholder-specific account
information are secure and confidential, and can only be
accessed by using personalized information.
TIME OF DAY OPTIONS
The VRU menu has easy-to-follow options, which are
activated by touching the buttons on any standard touch-tone
telephone. Shareholders with rotary-dial telephones will
have access to account information with representative
assistance.
During company business hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00
p.m., callers may access the prior day's closing price for
Con Edison common stock, along with any timely stockholder-
related messages from the company. Three other menu options
include:
- Financial publication requests by mail, including Con
Edison annual reports, dividend reinvestment
prospectus or copies of company 10Q and 10K reports.
- Instructions on transferring common shares from one
individual to another.
- Accessing personal account stock balances, year-to-
date dividend payments, dividend reinvestment history or
recent dividend check payment information can be obtained.
From 9:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., callers receive the
closing common share stock price and a timely investor-
related message only. These limited options are offered
during off-peak hours in order to allow daily processing of
account transactions.
During other times, callers receive the same
information as during business hours, but they won't have
the option to speak to a company representative.
The toll-free number, 1-800-522-5522, also can be used
by preferred stock holders during business hours to speak
to a representative.
