REPAIRS CONTINUE IN MIDTOWN

Con Edison's work at Lexington Avenue and 41st Street in Manhattan has shifted from recovery to reconstruction. Working in conjunction with the New York City Office of Emergency Management and other agencies, company crews were able to identify, isolate and remove the damaged equipment and debris. The damaged pipes and ducts are being examined in order to determine the cause of the steam pipe rupture on July 18.

In order to open the two western lanes to traffic by Monday, August 13, the crews have focused on making repairs to the western edge of the crater before commencing work on the eastern side. Currently, they are working to install new equipment and rebuilding ducts and manholes.

Updates on business and pedestrian restriction, as well as roadway closures, will continue to be provided at www.nyc.gov/oem.

Information on reimbursements from Con Edison is available at www.conEd.com or by calling 1-212-460-3221.
